The monitoring program, which has been going on since March 2016, compiles a description of the population structure of all shark species aggregated at the feeding site.
As Tiger sharks are highly elusive creatures, the research on them is in its infancy, thus available information of their behaviour is imperative. A comprehensive metrics for characterising individual tiger sharks on-site is conducted by determining the sex ratio, length, and community structure of the Tigers, and creating a photographic identification guide for them. In addition, Tigers’ population are placed into co-occurrence groups for describing the residence patterns and behaviour of these groups. Furthermore, the hypothesis that shark-feeding increases the fidelity of Tiger sharks to the site is tested.
